REGISTRATION: During Day races registration is held between 8AM-9AM and for Afternoon/Evening races is 11AM-12PM.

RACE DAY FUELING PROCEDURE: This year, Mini Indy will use 87 octane gas from the BP station at the corner of East 38th Street and Fall Creek Parkway (just outside the southeast corner of the Fairgrounds) as the designated fuel for our races. Testing will be done during the race days.

VISITOR POLICY: Mini Indy always welcomes any QMA member in good standing to our races. Because of insurance and security, any QMA member visitor who wishes to practice at Mini Indy must do so with a Mini Indy member present and acknowledging responsibility for that visitor. A QMA member of another track may purchase an associate membership to Mini Indy for $100.00, which has the privilege of a key to the track and unsupervised practice.

Tech and Safety

Rule 22 G. will be strictly enforced this year.

22g. "No restraining device of any kind is to be used to keep the driver's head or body outside the roll cage, with the exception of attaching both shoulder straps to the left upright."

Make sure your head rest does not force the head outside the roll cage.

Thanks and safe racing,

Safety Director

First let me begin by clarifying that all 13 RDs and the National Board approved all safety clarifications at the National meeting. The clarification is not a "New Firewall rule" and should not be positioned as such with the membership. With that said, there was already a rule that does not allow open holes in the fire wall. There could be some interpretation there as to what an open hole is, so we clarified the open hole rule as it pertains to safety belts by not allowing them to pass through the fire wall and be exposed to the engine compartment where fuel, oil, heat, etc. could degrade the belts. Additionally, the firewall "hole" edges could also wear on the belt material. If you are running your belts to the top bar, all you have to do is add a shield of aluminum the same thickness as the firewall to the firewall to "box in" the top bar and keep it and the belts removed from the engine compartment. You could run a secondary firewall behind the belts, keeping them from the engine compartment or you could add another bar above the top of the firewall as a belt mounting point. The pictures you sent of a Nervo 1900 with the seatbelts passing through the firewall is not acceptable in my interpretation as the belts go through the firewall and appear to be exposed to the engine compartment. As we discussed at the National Meeting, we do not specify how a seat should be mounted, but if the belts are required to be mounted through the firewall to successfully mount the seat, then the seat mounting should be questioned. The clarification is not meant to make it difficult for anyone, but to improve safety overall. I hope this helps.

Earl Wilcox
